چکیده
To elucidate the effect of macroalgae blooms on dissimilatory nitrate reduction pathways (denitrification, anammox, and DNRA) in sediments hypereutrophic Yatsu tidal flat, eastern Japan, sediment denitrification, DNRA rates were measured using a 15N tracer technique at two sites affected unaffected by (Ulva) incubation experiments with without Ulva. Anammox was insignificant both experiments. The denitrification rate consistently higher than rate, its contributions to total 82% 85% Ulva, respectively. In experiment contribution had increased approximately 30% day 7, which is when sulfide concentration highest. Sulfide produced sulfate during inhibited did not change DNRA, consequently contribution. On 21, after reaching peak late collapse, decreased 15%. These results indicated that greater although dominated regardless macroalgal status. Therefore, vigorous cover production under an important impact nitrogen dynamics.

Tidal pumping facilitates dissimilatory nitrate reduction in intertidal marshes
Intertidal marshes are alternately exposed and submerged due to periodic ebb and flood tides. The tidal cycle is important in controlling the biogeochemical processes of these ecosystems. Intertidal sediments are important hotspots of dissimilatory nitrate reduction and interacting nitrogen cycling microorganisms, but the effect of tides on dissimilatory nitrate reduction, including denitrifica...
متن کاملDissimilatory nitrate reduction by Propionibacterium acnes.
Propionibacterium acnes P13 was isolated from human feces. The bacterium produced a particulate nitrate reductase and a soluble nitrite reductase when grown with nitrate or nitrite. Reduced viologen dyes were the preferred electron donors for both enzymes. Nitrous oxide reductase was never detected. Specific growth rates were increased by nitrate during growth in batch culture. Culture pH stron...
متن کاملNitrate Storage and Dissimilatory Nitrate Reduction by Eukaryotic Microbes
The microbial nitrogen cycle is one of the most complex and environmentally important element cycles on Earth and has long been thought to be mediated exclusively by prokaryotic microbes. Rather recently, it was discovered that certain eukaryotic microbes are able to store nitrate intracellularly and use it for dissimilatory nitrate reduction in the absence of oxygen. The paradigm shift that th...
متن کاملDissimilatory selenate reduction potentials in a diversity of sediment types.
We measured potential rates of bacterial dissimilatory reduction of SeO(4) to Se in a diversity of sediment types, with salinities ranging from freshwater (salinity = 1 g/liter) to hypersaline (salinity = 320 g/liter and with pH values ranging from 7.1 to 9.8. Significant biological selenate reduction occurred in all samples with salinities from 1 to 250 g/liter but not in samples with a salini...
متن کاملthe effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation
in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.
